I think the best "how to" book for making books is Books, Boxes and
Wraps by Marilyn Webberley - Bifical Publishing, Kirkland, WA -
available through Daniel Smith Art Materials in Seattle and maybe
Amazon.com. It is a large format paperback with lessons meant to be
copied.
