This next week for Youth Art Month, we have the following.
An all day event at the capitol to demonstrate the role the arts play in
education. Performers from every art will be there and we will have
legislative visits. The local museum will be open for free to all of the
students and the students will create art in the rotunda. The top floor will
host a sculptor for everyone to see and speak with.
In addition, on that same day, area high school students will travel to the
University gallery for a reception of their work in conjunction to the "Judy
Chicago retrospective". The students produced works on issues of Equality.
Student will see their work in the same space as Chicago's work and they will
perform and speak on issues of equality.
Then on Thursday our entire districk (K-12) will get out to have a celebration
of creative solutions called "Designs from Creative Minds". There will be
over 50 visual and performing artists as well as scientists, architects,
mathematicians, etc. who use creative ways to solve problems. We will also
feature many adults who use art and/or produce things in an artful way. These
will include amature artists, professional chefs, hairstylists, and others who
perform a rather regular job with an artistic flare. It is all free and other
area schools come over to join and celebrate.
On Friday we rest!
