I would be interested to hear from all of you what special activities =
you have planned to celebrate Youth Art Month. My NAHS kids have =
decided that we should have a special "Art Awareness" week. I'm not =
sure what catchy title we shall call it, but our activities we have =
planned thus far are as follows
Mon: Hang art prints around the school and have a contest to see which =
students can identify the
artists.
Tues: "Tie One on For YAM Day" Students are painting icons from famous =
paintings/sculptures onto
ties which will be worn by art members throughout the day. Each =
tie "wearer" will be ready to
describe the artist/artwork that they are representing (if asked =
in any of the "regular" classes)
Wed: "Colorless Day" Students will be posting color quotes around the =
school and dressing in black
to emphasize the difference that color makes in our lives each =
day.
Thurs: Sidewalk Chalk Exhibit: Students will create a 31 panel =
sidewalk chalk mural for all to see.
Friday: "Color Scheme Day" All students will be asked to wear clothing =
in a specific color scheme.
Select art students will wear name tags that identify them as a =
special "color scheme". If a
student can guess their color scheme, their name is placed into =
a drawing for art supplies given
at the end of the week.
Sunday: Gallery visit to a local Student art exhibit.
As you can see, I am very excited about this. This will be the first =
year that we try an all arts week. We also hope to have administrators =
and teachers participate in our festivities. I would love to hear any =
of your ideas.
