I have had the same problem, but not with anyone so obnoxious as the teacher
you describe. I told my principal what was going on and he gave me extra money
for some loaner brushes and replacement of paint, chalk etc (the stuff that
gets borrowed). That was a couple years ago and now he regularly gives me
extra- I'm middle school and he figures it is cheaper this way than having all
the teachers stock separate supplies.
I won't stop class to get things for people, though. Of course they still send
kids to ask, but I just send them back and tell them to have their teacher see
me later-
