Whew! Thanks for your responses on this, Judy, Ellyn and Marcia. I
apologize for misinterpreting Bunki and Gigi. I did not mean to offend,
but was feeling a bit underappreciated. I work much harder, longer hours
in elementary than I did in high school. And for a few minutes there I
was thinking to myself, "This is like beating your head against a wall
because it feels so good when you stop." Then the posts from J, E, and M
brought me back!
I already do a lot in coordinating my art curriculum with the classroom
as Ellyn suggests because I recognize how important connections between
all the subjects are to learning, and because anybody with a cork eye
can see that testing has dramatically affected how time is spent in the
classroom. (Besides that, I like doing it!)
I truly appreciate Marcia's message too. It's gratifying to know that
our efforts are not entirely in vain. Thanks to all of you! I love this
list and look forward to coming home to it each day. Was it Christine
who referred to it as an awesome teacher's lounge? Perfect!
