Dear Ricki,

The value of art ed is manifold. What I find the most important is the
use of right brain activity. Most subjects in school are left brain
oriented, so an imbalace occurs in use of the brain.

I am very fortunate that the schools my kids attend actually encourage
right brain subject to ensure a more balanced learning experience. The
guidance teacher at my daughter's school said that right brain activity
improves left brain activety and vice versa.

My personal opinion is that art teaches us that different people see
things differently. My daughter wrote a wonderful essay on the
perception of reality in the arts.If you would like to see a 16 year
old's opinion on the matter, let me know and I will send it to you.

Regards

Tracey in Durban, South Africa.
