Amen! I once had a friend who tried to explain away her child being caught
throwing paint and eggs at a neighbor's house with, "well, she's just a child.
She doesn't know any better." Well the "child" was eleven years old!! So I
responded by asking her when she planned to teach her better or did she expect
that Jill would lie down 17 and wake up 18 knowing all the things that she
needed to know. I told her that it was our responsibility as adults and
parents to teach our children these things unless she wante the penal system
to do it for her. Jill's life changed.
And my point is? :-)) We have the same responsibilty. To teach them a more
mature way. Later they can make a choice. but at least they will have a number
of things from which to choose.
