>I send home a newsletter about once a month describing what is going on
>in the Art program for my elementary school. I include a brief synopsis
>of what the kids have been learning, artists covered in art history,
>what kids will be learning next, donations we could use, local art
>classes, exhibits at the art museum, a quote from an artist that is
>inspirational, art shows and kids names who are in them. Is this a good
>idea? If you do the same what do you include? I feel that communication
>between the community and school helps to keep programs. What do you
>think? Ruth

Ruth I've been doing the same for about 6 years and I think it's very
valuable (although I don't get alot of feedback). I believe it let's the
parents know that our programs have substance and may help prevent cuts in
the future. Lately I have been collaborating with the music teacher...THE
ARTS NEWS. And we are now sending copies to our school board as well.
