I don't think the problem is just "Southern" either. Here in western
Nebraska, where we pride ourselves in solid family values, we have had
loaded guns at school, knives, and other weapons. They seem to be most
prevalent at the Middle School age. I don't think any school is immune to
violence any more. We are all vulnerable. One of the real tragedies here
will be that fire drills will become fearful situations or have to cease
entirely. This event will have more far reaching consequences than these
tragic deaths and injuries.
