Hi All,
I have had so many enquiries about resources for African art that I am
making a list of what is available.
As soon as my research is done I will do a posting of what is out there.
I am sure a lot of the locally published books might not be available in
the US. If any of you want, I can send you books and slides.
One thing you must keep in mind when doing your own research; in Africa
art and culture is very closely interwoven. So books in your library
that deal with Africa on a travel level, might contain some information
for you. Also, the trend of art as expression is a relatively new
concept among African people. Traditionally, works of art were
functional or pertained to religious observance. Decorative art , on
its own, was almost unknown.

Let me know if there is anything specific you are looking for.

PS I cannot guarantee anything beyond Southern Africa.
