Imagine a forty year old female with a GI hair cut and the most
outrageous earrings I can find or make, usually odd (not a pair).
So green hair is strange to some people. So is the thought of many
things others take for granted. Tell anyone who dares to criticise that
regarding different as bad is the basis of prejudice and racism.
Now as to what kind of artist I am. Very difficult question as I do so
many things. A classic case of jack of all trades and master of none.
My primary concern is teaching Black, mainly rural, women crafts and
skills that can be translated into income generating cottage industries.
I am in the procss of setting up a facility to teach ceramics and
provide workshop space for my students to practice their art.
I also design and make costumes for the theatre, mainly musicals and
dance related shows. I paint most of my own fabrics as i can never find
prints or patterns I like.
Ceramics; mainly hand built functional pieces that are strange and
When I need the money I make ball gowns and wedding dresses .
So, something of everything.
