I am a water color artist and I also like chalk and pastel. My work
resembles that of book illustrations. I am 51 years old. I grew up in
Chicago and now live in Wisconsin. My plan is to really kick in and do
my art full time when I retire from teaching. I feel that if I am lucky
I will be able to explore my art for at least 30 years after I finish
working. I have been keeping sketch books and of course trying out all
the things I see and teach. I do a painting or two a year. I have
never exhibited, unless you call my home a gallery. Grandma Moses
has inspired me!! I also love art history and art therapy. I am just
now feeling comfortable with my art work. I finally feel it is good
enough to exhibit. I am a product of the 60's when you were criticized
for drawing or painting realistically. So I think my art education
suffered because my professors were so trendy. I refer to myself as self
taught. I am happy to have seen the revival of realism in art. I have
taught art for 28 years, been the coordinator of our city art programs
during the summers and I am also the gifted coordinator for our
schools. I am also very active with Odyssey Of The Mind. I have been
married for 28 years and I have two grown daughters and a Sheltie.
