I love the ceramic vessels made throughout Meso-America. I have kids make
them out of red clay (Don't need to glaze them; or, you could do decorative
drawings with black ink or tempra paint). Have kids look at examples, then
design (draw) a vessel with either a figure or an animal incorporated into
it. You don't say what age you teach - little kids could make cup shapes,
older kids can make hollow bottle shapes.
