Just a little personal info on Andy Warhol before he became famous. Not
all his personal life would raise eyebrows. My mother-in-law went to
school with him (Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburg) and they painted and
worked together, and sometimes she served as a model. She says she
remembers him as being all one color, pale tan: hair, eyes, skin, &
clothes- says he wore tan corderoys every day for 3 years. They were
both poor. He completed art assignments on paper towels when he couldn't
afford paper. One day when he was late for class he explained that he
stopped to watch the squirrels mating in the park. He made clothes for
her to wear. Said his work at the time was both realistic and
impressionistic. For a while he experimented with making blotting
paintings. He watercolored a painting and blotted it to another paper.
The blotting was the final product.
