Lesson Plans

teaching about blind artists

For my Art-education class at Penn State University, I am
creating a sample art lesson. I have chosen to focus the
lesson on teaching about art work, specifically sculpture,
which has been done by individuals who are blind. I have
found a book which describes a school for the blind in Japan
in which an art teacher inspired his students to become
interested and involved in art. I am planning on using some
of the art work the Japanese students in that book created in
my lesson. I have not had much luck finding more information
about blind artists. I was wondering if anyone had any
additional information about blind sculptors which they would
be willing to share, or any experiences with teaching students
about artwork by blind individuals.
I would greatly appreciate any information or insight anyone
has, please write back.
