Although we are almost halfway through Youth Art Month, here's an idea that is still very doable. I have always wanted to do something for each and every child for YAM, but I have 650 students! I present them with an "Artistic License" which reads: This card entitles the bearer to full, utter and totally awesome Artistic License to create in a way that is unique to him/her. This is a lifelong privelege and never expires." It has a place for the individual's name and is signed by me and the pricipal. I also include the date, year and Youth Art Month. I designed them with a fancy border, put 4 on a page and xerox them--so the cards are about 4 & 1/4 x 5 & 1/2. This is something that I can give every child and adult. It also reenforces the idea art is for everyone. I've done it about every 3 years, and try other things in the off years.

Of course, there is that saying: "Your artistic license has been revoked." but that is something else!
