art therapy

I am an art education senior, new to this net-talk. I have recently
volunteered at a local youth hospice. I will be working with children who
have recently lost a parent due to terminal illness, suicide, or sudden death.
I would like to know if anyone has any experience with using art to help in
such a situation? also, my first child is very dissruptive, I am hoping that
art may be an outlet for some emotions that he has so far been unable to
handle or express. ANY ideas would be greatly apreciated.
