Re: Erasers

I try to discourage my students (elementary) from using erasers. Not
because I have anything against erasers, but because they spend so much
time erasing. I have shown them and told them to draw lightly, so if
they make a line they don't like they can erase it quickly, or draw
right over it, all to no avail, they press as hard as they can and erase
away.

I recently did a drawing project with second graders and they had to
draw with permanent markers. I told them at the beginning this was
because we spent too much time erasing and not enough time thinking.
Guess what? It worked. The drawings, all of them, were great. There
were a few lines where they shouldn't have been, but none that ruined
their work.
