We did this in college painting and I got a kick out of it. We took a famous
painting with good design and turned the picture upside down. We were asked to
make a totally new painting based on the design of the masterpiece. Our new
creation could be anything landscape, portrait, interior, but the flowing
designs had to remain the same. The premise is that a masterpiece has good
design: (rhythm: repeating shapes, colors, lines or textures) whether its
right side up or upside down.
