Hi Mark and everyone,

I also love stories and illustrating them. I often write four or five short
poems on the board and after discussing book illustration, children's
books, etc, I have the kids pick one and pretend that they are going to the
publisher as an illustrator, and do their artwork emphasizing the poem.
They really love the lesson. I combine sad poems with happy poems, all
written by children from all over the world, adding the author's name and age.

I saw the most incredible exhibit in Sept-Oct last year at the McNeal Art
Museum in San Antonio, Texas that was all children's book illutrators and
how they do the art. It was the first time I have ever seen book
illustrators giving the limelight that they so deserve! Did anyone else see
the exhibit? Beautiful work!
