I very much agree with the cumulative portfolio approach. I have seen it
done and it worked wonderfully. However, the school in which I observed it
was an elementary school in an affluent district, with plenty of storage
space. I wonder how else the problem could be solved for elementaries in
which the art teacher is on a cart, the classes have art once every other
week, and many kids won't even bring books or papers home in case they have to
run from bullies, gang members, etc....?
