copying, still lifes

I agree that there is value in copying at certain times but I am
more aligned with San D in her thoughts..
I am writing to suggest a still life that I have used in the past
which my students have enjoyed. I have sent them around the school to draw
views inside doorways of storage rooms, the custodian's closets, classrooms
and the insides of cabinets in the art room...sometimes I fill the cabinet
with toys and odd things. Looking in the cabinet under the sinks is always
Another still life project that I use is adapted from an issue of
School Arts where everything for the still life is of no intrinsic value,
is donated by class members and becomes part of the art room. Everyone
has a personal interest in it...We use view finders to select the part of
the still life to draw. It usually covers a vast area.
