I am so glad that you have stated the comment about the "Canned Art" approach. I also agree that
in some situations it is okay to use simple patterns to trace if you are not trained to be an art teacher.
But as an art teacher that is trained in DBAE I believe it is our duty to instill
individual interpetation of life observations using art history as a base for learning. I have taught at all levels and
I have worked many teachers, some trained in DBAE and so not. I have tried to change others to see how you can approach
an idea without patterns and at times I was successful and at others times I was not. But I keep trying... I think that is all
that we can expect from people that have not been trained in this manner. But atleast they are getting the opportunity to
explore some media and learn craftsmanship and how to complete something for presentation. This also is very valuable.
