One of my goals for this year, as painter and primarily 2-D person, is
to teach more sculpture this year to my high school students. I have the
usuall situation these days, as I have 35 students in my Fundamentals of
Art class. Little space for storage and little supplies. Sound familiar?
I thought I introduce the unit with a House of Cards contest to give the
idea of balance. I also am having then transform a 2-D line design into
a linear sculture using toothpicks, pipecleaners, straws and wire. I
want to lead this into a found object, perhaps reliquary box sculpture.
Any resources, management, supply resources, and resources on cultural
exemplars are needed.
