More suggestions concerning New Orleans:

It is possible to get great food for reasonable prices in New
Orleans, especially if you eat where the locals eat. One of my
favorite places in the French Quarter is the Gumbo Shop. Places
like Brennans and the Court of Two Sisters are so expensive
because they cater to tourists.

The main caution I have is that you NEVER go to a cemetery in
New Orleans without a busload of people. Lots of tourists want
to visit the beautiful historic cemeteries, but it is NOT safe
to go without a group. Also, stay in areas where there are lots
of other people and always be aware of what is happening around
you.

I'm sorry if this sounds too negative, but the people who most
often become victims of crime in New Orleans are the tourists.

On a positive note, the best things about New Orleans are the
food and the music, so enjoy.
