There are 3 books that I use to get multicultural lessons from...
}The Kids Multicultural Art Book
}by Alexandra M. Terzian copyright 1993
}Williamson Publishing Co. 1-800-234-8791
This book has very simple, easy to use lessons and is well illustrated. For
older students, a little background research is needed to get more content
into the lesson.
}Multicultural Art Activities
}by Darlene Ritter copyright 1993
}Creative Teaching Press Inc, Cypress CA 90630
This book is also well illustrated and there is more background given on
cultures and lessons. For each lesson, there are also extensions
recommended (or variations) and how to integrate with other disciplines. It
has a color photo section of the all the projects done by the author.
}Art From Many Hands
}by Jo Miles Shuman copyright 1981
}Davis Publications Inc., Worcester MA
This book is probably the most authentic of all books I have seen on
multicultural art projects. It tells you the exact techniques and methods
as well as materials. This book also has a color photo section of the
projects, but they are actual artifacts, not the artists rendition.
Another method of multicultural art ed that I try is to find stories about
other cultures, or written by people of other cultures and then use the book
as motivation for the art project!
