Dear Kathryn,
Many thanks for your thoughts on teaching the elements and principles. I have
been bothered by the feeling that it is just too much of a "formula" approach
to build whole lessons around teaching the elements and principles. Sure, we
need to convey an understanding of the concepts, but I agree that the "big
picture" is what is important.
(On March 28, Kathryn Cascio responded to the question: "Why is it important
to have a complete understanding of the elements and principles of art in
order to carry out a successful work of art?")

Sincerely,
Teri Brudnak, Visual Arts Instructor
