Dear Art Teacher: I'm sorry to hear about your problem with
block scheduling. Unfortunately, the alternating day plan isn't the
designe that benefits art instruction. This also includes a large
storage problem for all students you see.
We use the four period day block schedule and have experienced
good student enrollment overy the past five years. Our county uses this
schedule that allows students four course choices per semester. Thus the
art staff sees no more than three classes per day, everyday, for each
semester. THis allows students eight (8) courses and more opportunity
for selecting our Applied Academic courses (elective).
Hope this model will allow your team more thought as you approach
administration. Thanks. Carroll.
