I want to thank Marcia Thompson for her insights on in-process critiques. I
have been struggling with the critique process (at the high school level)
for several years, stressing vocabulary and verbal interaction, but the
students always have trouble articulating their observations. Your method
(PQP) sounds like a positive way to structure the critique, and guidelines
that they will be able to follow. As a matter of fact, we had one of our
usual critiques today. I allowed them to write objective statements rather
than speak them, which was a little more workable for them. I may share a
copy of your e-mail with them tomorrow, and try again! I'll let you know
how it goes! Thanks again!
