In 1994 the NAEA established eight Task Forces (Demographics, Conceptual
Issues, Curriculum, Instruction, Contexts, Student Learning, Evaluation, and
Teacher Education) to design specific research initiatives to further theory
and practices in our field. If you are NAEA members, you will have received
a copy of the NAEA publication "Briefing Papers: Creating a Visual Arts
Research Agenda Toward the 21st Century" (1996). The publication outlines a
series of frameworks for inquiry and collaboration within these eight areas.
The Task Forces will be holding separate meetings in San Francisco; the
meeting times will be listed in the Convention brochure.
It is clear from the postings on this list that its participants care deeply
about the visual arts, and willingly inquire into the nature of art teaching.
I hope that some of you will plan to attend one or some of the sessions if
you are in San Francisco, and if not, contact me personally, and I'll put
you in contact with any of the Task Force Chairs.
