I did a similar project with my new group of middle school students,
except I had them work in groups and create large posters. They
actually really seemed to enjoy it, and some came out really nice!.
They spent over two days on it and worked really hard. I wish I had
used poster samples to discuss what makes a poster successful. I talked
briefly about lettering and colors and using pictures to make a clear
statement. After they were finished, each group presented their poster,
and the class discussed if the message was clear and what worked and
what could be improved. The class voted on the best poster, and that
group got a goody. I'd definitely like to get some good examples for
next time. Good luck...sounds like a good plan!
