I got to dye a Ukranian egg at a friend's house last week. WHAT FUN! I
can't wait to do more. I'm thinking about buying the stuff to make it
an activity next year. Once a week, kids could come in and work on
their eggs. We have a fridge, so I could keep them for a while. Buying
all of the supplies might be a bit pricey, so I was thinking of doing it
with maybe a group of ten at first. You could make them in Christmas
colors and hang them on a tree, too. One other reason to do it with
only ten is that the supervision with fire needs to be "TIGHT" if you
know what I mean. I wouldn't do it in a class below 5th grade. You
have to have a candle burning to use with the wax needles. (She told me
what they are called, but I forget.) You also need a microwave and the
suction things to get the yolk out. I think I would probably buy about
10 dye colors at first, ten wax needle things, and go from there.
Hmmm...thanks for reminding me. I might add this to next year's supply
order so I really plan it into the curriculum. It really was a blast.
Ta-ta.
