Whatever you offer, make it real world friendly, something the students
can actually put to use. For example, art in advertising.

Subject: Middle School course offerings??
Need your expertise! The enrollment of our middle school art
classes continues to be impact by additional course offerings in other
electives. In addition to all of the teen living classes, they have
added Financial Skills and Career Skills classes. Computer Exploratory
is now offering keyboarding for high school credit. Foreign language
has just added Japanese.
In order to keep our enrollment up, I think we need to offer
additional art electives. At this time we offer a 9 week art electives
in grades 6 and 7. We offer a semester art elective in grade 8 and one
selected advanced art 8 group.
Is anyone else experiencing similar problems? What, if any
additional opportunities do your middle schoolers have in art? I was
thinking about a 3D elective, maybe 'Into the Third Dimension". Any
new classes would have to be presented and approved by the School
Board. Maybe "Art and the Digital Image" would have more interest for
the School Board.
Just wondering if you could give me some ideas.
