We used 10 coat hangers for each of our monsters, covered with strong STRONG mache (like flour and water mixture), and then plaster gauze. If you're making small monsters then you probably can do it without the armature. I wouldn't recommend Ross Paste as the kind of paper mache glue to use. It's too flimsy. Toodles...Bunki
