I like to have the students draw the shape of the shadow of the side of the nose and under the eyebrow and under the nose, then put in the highlights of the parts that extend and catch the light.

What are some suggestions for making a nose with oil pastels on a self portrait? My students' noses look like basically an outline of the nose shape. Thanks.
