Painting (oil pastel) is about color planes coming together. Lines don't exist in nature. Therefore, when our paintings or drawings have lines in the final product, we get an artificial result. Its easier to get away with lines in drawing eyes, because thare are some very thin color planes there. When it comes to noses, its important to focus on different color planes. I hope this helps.
