I have a quote under every e-mail I post:

“The function of the overwhelming majority of your artwork
is simply to teach you how to make the small fraction
of your artwork that soars.” from: “Art & Fear”

Art and Fear is a book worth reading and re-reading.

Another quote I like to use is the Crayon quote at:

http://www.taospaint.com/CrayonQuote.html

We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp,
some are pretty,
some are dull,
some have weird names.
All are different colors,
but they all have to learn to live
in the same box.
