This is a huge problem in our district too! They have discussed block
scheduling..etc..but for just doesn't work. Mostly because of the time
alotted to art, music and pe. Art is one hour per time. Music is
one hour per week, but in 2 half hour blocks. PE is 2 hours a week...for
grades 2-5 they have pe in 1 hour blocks 2x a week...but the little ones (k-1) have
gym in 45 minute blocks 3 times a week...or something like that!

What I was able to do was have my preps/free time spread throughout the
day/week. That way, I did not always have my prep from 9:30-10:30 every morning.
(everyone wants art at the end of the day!) now I have preps at a different
point each it gives me a little more of a chance to do a make-up class.
No one was free at 9:30...but now sometimes I can do make-ups on Friday
afternoons, or at other times.

I don't know if that helps....good luck! It is a wicked schedule!
