One way to give tempera paints a bit more permanency, is to add some acrylic
medium to the paint. I've been doing it for years, especially when doing large
constructions as in props for school plays. As for using tempera on paper
mache, it all depends on how thickly the kids apply the tempera paint and also
how heavily the mache mix was when applied.
