I have tried some new ideas this semester. Let's see if I can describe them
to you:

Beach Shacks - based on the slab box construction, we built tall, wavy houses
with "tiled" roofs or grass roofs which we did with the blunt end of a wooden
tool. Everyone was different but most were on a base that resembled sand in
texture or an ocean wave. Some had docks extended out. Others had balconies. We
used underglazes to paint the greenware weird patterns and colors. Some kids
added surf boards and palm trees. Don't forget. We are in Florida so this
comes easy to them.

Crazy shoes- based on the crazy stuff in the book, Cinderella's Revenge,
which I got from Amazon.

Wind chimes- some kids made the dangle thingys with letters of their name
(actual letter sculptures).

Small chess sets- paint these with underglazes.

Double spouted vessels with sculptural motifs added - started with 2 pinch
pots (one inverted), added 2 spouts. Then ribbon like slabs, twisted coils,
sprigs etc.

We are experimenting with marbled clay using two colors of clay (same cone
firing). I will send this lesson to Judy as soon as I can write up the lesson
plan and get digitals.

Judy had some great ideas on her site. Hope this helps.
