Re: If you were starting an Elementary art program from scratch... where would you begin ?

I wrote a post here recently about Emphasis was my "bible"
during my early years of teaching. When my new teaching partner was
hired, she had no experience organizing/starting an art program herelf,
so I gaveher a copy. She has found it a fabulous source of information
regarding classroom management, materials, projects, what MAKES a
quality art program, teaching tips, philosophies of art ecucation, and
so on, and so on. I can't imagine NOT starting out with this book. It
was a Godsend to me in an earlier edition back in 1980 and applies as
much today in the newer version. It has EXCELLENT color photos of creme
de la creme kid's art. Best for k-8, I think, but high school teachers
also might get something out of parts of the book.
