I feel your pain! I donated an artwork to the local Easter Seals auction this
year. I created a mixed media piece that was very symbolic and meaningful as
well as attractive. It only brought $50 while all the beautiful little
landscape and cute little still lifes brought MUCH more. OUCH. In hindsight I
can say keep doing what makes you happy, but maybe look at what it is about
the other artworks that make them attractive to the "patrons", and maybe mix
your style with what will sell. Isn't this what most artists who sell to the
public do? as opposed to just doing art for art sake? Hang in there.
