Ken, When is your book comming out? Or has it already been published? I was
away from artsednet for a while and maight have missed the news.

My book is a long story. We Bob Capitolo and myself) were put on the back
burner for the last few months and after many calls and e-mails finally got a
hold of someone at Sterling and got some feedback. They need to have us add
more and rewrite a few things. They want 4 books and will publish them
seperately and then all 4 as one big volume.

We write these things as if we were teaching someone one to one. All our
lessons/projects are extremely detailed and have lots of pictures and
explanations. We both did not like art to do books that were vague and
showed the process to fast and brief.

The first book is on Drawing techniques and covers composition, design, basic
forms 5 principles of shading, graphite shading, abstraction (weave) project,
montage with crosshatch drawing, pen and ink, toned paper with black and
white charcoal, scrachboard, textured surface drawing with gesso, and simple
still life drawing. They wanted 100 pages or so and I think it will be much
more.

Our second book is hopefully going to be on Color with an extensive
discussion and showing of Color Theory, Color schemes etc. Eight projects
that use each of the color schemes some using mixed media. These include
acrylic, pastel, craypas, crayon, colored pencil, paper laminations with
acrylic, etc.

Third and fourth books will be on Printmaking without a press, including
woodcuts, embossing, block printing, stamp printing, collograph, etc. The
Fourth book is going to be mixed media. Collage and other techniques that we
have done for years with our students.

This is a very time consuming project and we have to do all our own
photography. that's the big part. I hope it works out. I will be glad
when it is complete. Meanwhile, I give parts of the book out at the
conferences.
