Re: Digital Video Camcorders?

Date: Wed Mar 05 2003 - 16:05:44 PST

We use Canon ZR40s and they have been fine.

If you are getting a Digital Video camcorder it should have the right
connector so that you can export your video from camera to computer. In Mac
talk that is a fire wire cable. In PC talk I think it is a IEEE cable.

The better the optical zoom the better the camera. Digital Zoom is to be used
as little as possible.

DV Tapes are more expensive than VHS tapes and you cannot continue to tape
over them. After two or three times the tape does not work.

I just saw an ad for a Sony DV camecorder for $395 in a PC Connection catalog.

Once you get into this start thinking about a DVD burner and creating DVDs.
The new iMacs are well set up for this.
