Re: HS Art Teachers- course selections

Date: Wed Mar 05 2003 - 06:32:18 PST

Our problem is that at a small private HS we offer lots of art classes, all
at entry level. This is to allow as many students as possible to schedule
art, as there is very little flexibility. They all take Bible, which adds a
further limitation to their scheduling. We used to be on Trimesters, and that
was really great--at least for vis art. So what we experience is certain
'popular' classes getting full to bulging and others that are more academic
thin out. If we go back to Art I, II, III etc I think we will kill the
program. If we even have an Art fundamentals prereq, it would be very hard to
schedule many kids. Hence the limitations on the bulging classes.
