Re: Elem. teachers/switching classes

We have a schedule all the specials follow when there is an assembly. I
losee 15 minutes from each class of 44 mintues. I'm not crazy about it as I
usually have to make up a new lesson to fit in that time. I would rather
have that one class behind instead of a whole day of classes, but the
teachers don't like to miss their plan time.
If a class goes on a field trip, they just miss specials. Sometimes I'll ask
classes to switch if a particular class is always missing and is behind, like
my Friday classes. The teachers never make any changes without consulting
with all of the specialists. I teach elementary and every child in a grade
level goes to specials at the same time. (PE, music, art, library) I keep
them the entire 55 minutes, but the others switch halfway through. Janet
