Re: matboard ideas?

I use the scraps to do a weaving project on in elemetary. They cut slits in
either end, warp using choise of string and weave using various materials. A
radial design in copper is added when the weaving is finished. The weaving
stays on the cardboard which saves time and makes a nice display.
You could also use as materials for foil low relieve sculptures. Use one
piece as the base. Cut shapes and glue onto the larger piece. (We did Spanish
Missions and used geometric shapes to create a facade) When finished, paint
thin glue over entire top of board and lay heavy duty aluminum foil over.
Fold excess over the back. SMmooth foil around shapess and add other details
by drawing right into the foil with a pencil of tool. Paint a layer of india
ink over design and allow to dry. Use steel wool to rub the ink, allowing it
to stay in cracks. These turn out really nice.
Hope this helps. Janet
