I just came back from a field trip to the Art Institute of Chicago. My
2nd year Drawing/Ptg and 3rd year Advertising Art classes were combined to
see both the Ansel Adams at 100 and Taken by Design about the Institute of
Design. We had 2 very different but really great docents take the students
through the exhibit. It was really gratifying to see the students so excited
and so enthusiastic about photography. It was a great study in contrasts-
Adams' nature shots and the Design school's photograms and school
assignments. The students who took Photography last semester with me were
especially glad to see "the real thing".
If anyone is going to the Art Institute, I recommend going to both
exhibits. Both free- added bonus. I think that bothh will be up through the
spring and maybe into the summer. Check the AIC website to be sure.
