Don't try to spraypaint styrofoam. It will dissolve the styrofoam. One
thing you could do is to take cardboard cutouts of the musical notes and
stuff them with newspaper. Apply a thin coating of paper mache strips
(newspaper with glue water) over the edges, then spray paint. This will
keep them light weight.

OR......you can paper mache (one layer) the Styrofoam shapes and THEN
