It's really sad how such a simple, nice word can be turned into something
umpleasant. My fifth graders were watching a video on Alexander Calder and
during an interview with his wife, she described his as gay, and fun to be
with. Of course, all the kids giggled because of what they know of as gay.
I had to explain that at one time, it meant happy and light hearted. Janet
